"I Could Use Your Input..."

I know this forum is less active since years past, but I want to tell you all I appreciate those willing to stick with it!

I am working on the website and will be doing a major revamp since we have SO many products now.

What I'd like to hear is how you buy and/or search sites. Not just ours, but others as well... Also, if there are any sites you think are really easy to navigate...

It would help so much...

Thanks!
Sooz

Some rambling thoughts of a no-nothing visitor.

polymerclayexpress.com is definitely showing its age and is what I perceive as non-standard layout compared to most other ecommerce websites I visit. On the other hand, for a 2 person business to have any kind of web presence is a tremendous achievement.

I don't know how the website is being maintained but if a CMS (Content Management System) isn't being used I'd suggest looking into one. There are many free ones, including ones specifically for ecommerce, listed at http://www.opensourcecms.com/.

One of the things I miss from shopping online is the lack of exploration that I usually do in a brick-and-mortar store. With on-line shopping I usually go straight to what I'm searching for by either using the websites search feature or clicking through the navigation system if I'm not exactly sure of the name of what I'm looking for.

Therefore, to get that feeling of exploration, I like websites that have "what's new", "whats on sale", "featured item" etc, on the top of the first page.

I like websites that while looking professionally designed/maintained still retain a friendly atmosphere.

My favorite art ecommerce website layout:
http://www.artistcraftsman.com/
I see from the html that its created with a service called Prostores.
http://www.prostores.com/?referral_code=2581

Most of the big name art websites are similar in structure.
http://www.dickblick.com/
http://www.misterart.com/

I don't like:
http://www.cheapjoes.com/
http://www.createforless.com/

You have great ideas! Yes, the web site is definitely outgrown itself and uses many old functions. I am not an expert by any means and I am researching all sorts of things to see what will work best with their current framework.
Thanks for the links! I've already looked at a few and your input helps!

Also, I love your sad dragon!
