"New kid in town"

   Hi there,
I am Elisabeth, from Sweden, and quite new to polymer clay, so I will probably ask a lot of questions.

Over here there aren't many supplies to be found, mainly clay but no tools, no nice effect powders, so I was thrilled when I found this site!

So, to my first question... I do make Faux Dichro, but on glass and metal. Can anyone give me tips on what to use on polymer clay?

My other hobbies are jewellry making and china painting. Recently I have also started working with PMC.

With best regards to you all from
Elisabeth in snowy Sweden

Hello, Elisabeth,

Glad to have you join us!

There's a polymer supplier in England if that will save you some postage? http://www.polymerclaypit.co.uk/ Sue Heaser is just lovely and she carries quite a nice selection.

I use several things for faux dichro on black polymer clay: micro-fine glitters, mica powders, colored foils, leafing foils and mokume gane bits.

I've never tried china painting - that would be such a cool hobby!

Welcome aboard - hope you find some interesting things, here.

Thank you, Elizabeth - from an Elisabeth!

I have already found a lot of nice stuff on this site, and was very pleased with my first order and will make another one asap. When I have decided what I really need (from what I want...)

I've been playing around with the clay today, made some nice bases for faux dichro, and also two votive candle holders from scrap clay. They turned out really nice.

China painting is really a fun hobby and it has been my main one for the past 30 years. Others have come and gone, but I always return to china painting. All the things I have learned from painting is really useful when it comes to other hobbies. For those of you who might be interested in my work, you can find it at http://www.studiob.ws (unfortunately only in Swedish so far - but you can always look at the pictures!), jewellry is found by clicking "Smyckesgalleriet" and painted china by clicking "Porslinsgalleriet".

That's all from a very snowy Sweden (I live in the north)
Elisabeth
